Easily the cold-hardiest Kniphofia ever grown, Fire Dance is a multicolored beauty that keeps the sunny, hot garden filled with bold shades for many weeks in summer. Looking like a giant exclamation mark, these vibrant blooms on strong stems demand attention in any setting!
Set above 20-inch foliage, the bloom spikes shoot 3 to 4 feet in the air, very thick and long-lasting. Cut them for indoor bouquets on a grand scale, or let them serve as focal points in the garden. They are simply magnificent!
The blooms arise from the center of the plant, and along the thick stems the florets open from the bottom up, turning from pale green to yellow, gold, orange, and finally red — always tipped in bright yellow!
Butterflies and hummingbirds delight in these nectar-filled blooms, adding their own bright colors to the already multi-hued show. Expect the flowers to last for several weeks in July and August, transforming the sunny garden when many perennials are shutting down for the season.
Fire Dance tolerates both extreme heat and drought, and needs no shade. Nibbling creatures from deer to rabbits and rodents leave it alone, making it a good choice for meadow and open gardens. Entirely trouble-free, it belongs in your garden this season and for countless summers to come! Zones 5-8.
