If you are a Lupine lover (and which of us isn’t?), you must try this improved mix grown especially for bigger, more beautiful blooms! You’ll get enormous flowerspikes jammed with rich colors in stunning combinations, just begging to be cut for the vase. Usually this kind of flower quality is available only from expensive cutting-raised plants, but Tutti Frutti? gives you top performance from economical, easy to grow, self-sowing seed!
Tutti Frutti is a luscious confection of color combos, including midnight purple and magenta, persimmon and gold, butter and cream, pink and primrose, two-tone pink, purple with coral — the permutations are almost endless! An improvement over the popular Russell Hybrids, this mix is the best thing to happen to Lupines in a long, long time!
Expect these plants to grow 36 to 40 inches tall and 12 to 16 inches wide, flourishing in full sun (in the north) to partial shade (farther south). They need well-drained soil, but are not fussy about its type, thriving even in loose, sandy soils that many plants find unfriendly. The blooms begin in early summer and continue through July, absolutely breathtaking on spikes up to 2 feet long. In the garden, this mix makes a fine backdrop to Petunias such as Wave and Avalanche, as well as to fragrant Sweet Alyssum.
Tutti Frutti is perennial in zones 4-8, but it also self-seeds, so if you grow it as an annual farther north, you may be pleasantly surprised to see it volunteer for many years to come. Pkt is 25 seeds.
